Josip Dragnić
Josip Dragnić, master of arts (MA), is Croatian guitarist, guitar professor and music festival organizer. He was born in Split in 1980 and has more than twenty five years experience as a musician. He has played across Croatia and abroad (Italy, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina) in a concert halls such as Philharmonie Luxembourg, Sofia Philharmonic hall, Théâtre des Halles Avignon, Concert hall Vatroslav Lisinski Zagreb, Croatian National Teather in Split and Šibenik and many others. He regularly performs as a soloist and as a member of chamber music formations. He has been a guest in various TV and radio shows on Croatian National Television and Croatian National Radio. Josip received his musical education in the Music school Josip Hatze in Split, at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuernberg (Germany) and at the Academy of Arts in Split, where he received a master degree in guitar. He studied in the class of world famous professor and guitarist Franz Halasz. He has also attended masterclasses with world most famous guitarists such as Costas Cotsiolis, Aniello Desiderio, Marcin Dylla, Zoran Dukić, Ricardo Gallen, Hubert Kappel, Carlo Marchione, David Russell, Pavel Steidl, Scott Tennant and Fabio Zanon.
Josip has won numerous prizes at various competitions as a soloist and as a member of chamber music formations including prizes at Croatian regional and national competitions for young musicians, “Darko Lukić” tribune, “Enrico Mercatalli” competition in Italy and many others. In 2004 he has graduated at Split Faculty of Science and became a professor of mathematics and informatics science. Josip is founder of Association MAG, organizer of Chamber music festival and Classical guitar festival that take place in Split under the patronage of Croatian President and Croatian Ministry of Culture. He is also founder and member of Split Guitar Quartet since 2010. Josip has been working as a guitar professor in Music schools and conservatoires in Croatia since 2003 and his students have won highest prizes at national as well as international competitions in Croatia, Italy, Germany, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is regularly invited to give masterclasses and to be a member of the competition juries in Croatia and abroad. He was member of the jury at the first Eurostrings competition finals held in Zagreb in March 2018. Since 2013 Josip lives in Luxembourg where he maintains very intensive pedagogical and concert activity. Currently he teaches in UGDA music school in Luxembourg.
