Music school Bonar

Bonar škola

The Bonar Music School, the largest and most awarded private music school in Croatia, was founded by Ružica Gelo Ciglenečki and Boris Ciglenečki in 2001.

The school is located in Zagreb. In addition to classical elementary and high music school education, the School offers all sorts of music programmes for pre-school children, elementary and high school students and adults as well as popular music programmes. The idea of the School is to develop the full potential of each student by approaching them as individuals while also insisting on group performances all in order to develop a sense of community and affiliation, love for music and strengthening students' self-efficacy and self-confidence.

In 2015 the Bonar Music School organized the Zagreb Guitar Festival for the first time. That same year we started publishing books intended for elementary school music education and approved by the Ministry of Education.

From 2015 to 2017 the students of the Bonar Music School represented Croatia within the United Children Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2017 another Bonar Music School project called The EuroStrings - European Guitar Festival Collaborative, which brings together 14 European classical guitar festivals, has been granted four-year co-financing by the Creative Europe platform. Creative Europe is the largest fund of the European Union for Culture, and the Bonar Music School is the first Croatian cultural organization, as the leading partner of a major international project, to which the largest grant was awarded by this EU fund.
